Whatever works for you. The lady who sold me my bow said forget about who makes it and what it looks like. It doesn't matter how fast or how heavy it is, if you can't shoot it then its worthless.

I shoot a PSE Super-G with Top Gun sights, whisker biscuit, with a kisser button. I got rid of the peep sight. My bow is real quiet and shoots pretty fast. I would love to buy the new PSE XFORCE that looks like a serious killing machine. Just can't justify buying it yet. This is only my third year with the Super G.

Any recommendations on a cheap (under $350) bow for someone who's never shot a bow before? I don't know much about bows and don't have any close buddies that bowhunt, but I really wanna try it. I'm a small guy (5'5", 120lbs) if that helps anything. I'd really like to get into it within the next year, so that I'd be hunting with it in the fall if possible.

Branson, two buddies of mine bought "Parker" packages from Whitetail Outpost in Newark. I think Gander also sells them. Anyhow, I think they paid less than $350 for everything to get started. Even a cheaper new bow will be miles ahead of the top of the line ten years ago.

Thanks nybuckstalker. I'll look into them. I just started looking at used bows on Craigslist and all. Prices seem great, but I wouldn't know what to look for or anything like that. I guess it'd be best to go with something from a store that could help me out and all. I just wanna make sure it's for me before I go spending a lot of cash on a bow package.

Branson buy a new bow if it's your 1st so you get it set for you and that way you can ask any questions you might have to them also with the outdoor show in harrisburg a lot of bow manufactures are there you can look at and handle lot's of bows and some good deals to be had. Hope this helps

branson if you want to start. go to a good bow shop and get fitted. if it is your first purchase do not do it on line. or through a catalog. if you want to get the most. get one that fits you. or you will fight it and it wont be as enjoying. i shoot year round and i love it. go to your neerest bow shop. and do some shooting of there equipment. see what works

I am have been shooting a ROSS CR34 for 3 years now. I have to say that it is a truly awsome bow and a pleasure to shoot. I have owned and shoot a Hoyt Supertec and Turbotec and they are both great bows and smoking fast. They tend to be hard to shoot and not very forgiving though, which is not the idlea hunting set up in my opinion. I shot alot of different bows and was actually a few days away from getting my Parker Phenoix 34 in when I was invited to shoot the ROSS by a friedn of mine.. I instantly fell in love with it. I was going to get the Parker which was a very close winner over the Swithcback (due to the way it felt in my hand) when this blew them both out the water.
I will say it is not the fastest bow I have ever shot, but it is deadnuts silent (huge plus in my book), it is so forgiving and consistent ( if I was as consistent as the bow then I would be shooting for a living lol) and no hand shock at all.
I have mine set up with a Trophy Ridge 5 pin, a Trophy Taker drop away, Sims stablizer. I currently am shooting the Vapor arrows out of it, because as it is set up at the moment those spine the best out of all the brands. But I am doing a little tweaking to it and will end up going to blackmax's or Goldtips depending on the exact outcome of my tweaking.
I have shot a few 3d matches with it and done pretty well and have had a number of guys ask to shoot it and a few of them went out and bought one afterward lol....
But you never know what might happen.. I might try some new ones out this spring and find something better...or not..lol
