I heard a lot of gobbling but not a lot of shooting. This Jake came in at 6:45 on State Land in Wicomico County. I normally wouldn’t shoot a Jake on opening day but with weather like this, I’m enjoying the rest of the day. I hope some of you had some luck.

Congrats NY. I saw a tom in full strut for about 10 minutes. But he was 60 yards away the whole time. Awesome morning though.

Had one gobble early in the morning but he never showed himself. Other than that it was quiet for me.

Took the kid I hunt with yesterday, we heard lots gobbling but nothing came to us. Were on public and there were plenty of hunters out. Best part of the turkey hunt was fishing in the pond at my place afterwards, we caught loads of bass and crappie, kept a dozen fat crappie and had a fish fry for lunch.

My Uncle and I went yesterday, his first time ever. We were on the birds right away. Had two come to about 80 yards, one started strutting he was big but after 30 or so seconds they turned and walked back were they came from. I thought they might have seen something but they took there time leaving and still answered my calls. I'm assuming they must have had a real live hen walk behind them and they followed. We circled around and got on them again they kept on answering but walked right past us and up and over a hill that leads to the next property over so we went and looked for more. We had another one working about 830 but he was really covering some ground so again I assume he was hot on the trail of a hen. Hunted until 1000 and never heard another one, the way the wind picked up they would have had to been close for us to hear them anyway. Trying again tomorrow, can't stay long my daughter has her first baseball game at 1000. Got a B-mobile decoy to try tomorrow., only had 2 hens and a Jake decoy yesterday, maybe that will be the ticket. Good luck to all.
