Dave, I feel your pain. I've got a nice public land spot where I'm hoping both will come along. It is bad to be hunting public land when you have a lease. You better get some latex for that flintlock on Fri.

I'm working my butt off to be able to slip away and hunt Friday and Saturday. My buddy and I have our bait piles going and they're hitting them hard. And I found a public land spot this weekend that should work out well. It doesn't get much pressure, so things should be great.

Went out for sika this morning, 35 minute paddle back in, heard one alarm chirp along the bank heading in, stags bugling well in the dark, once it got light I never saw or heard a deer. Awfully warm. Two other buddies had the same hunt, nothing seen or heard...

I had an EASY hunt. Didn't have to decide what deer to shoot, didn't have to gut and drag it,didn't have to skin and quarter, didn't have to clean my gun. See? An EASY hunt!
Covered up in coons, squirrels, and turkeys, but never saw a deer. Will let the wife go out and sweat this afternoon.

No luck again today. Didn't even see a deer. There hasn't been much talk on this black powder thread......either everyone is cutting up the game or no one has had any luck.

I havent seen anything since the first week of bow season. But just remember everybody seems to think there are so many deer it is unreal. Thats what I keep hearing. On whitetail.com I think a few people are starting to see what I have been saying that the deer population is WAY down in many parts of MD.

Have not seen many deer as well. I walked back to a small creek behind my house where the deer get their water...... No water. Thought there would be some left with there being a swamp but nothing! Don't know where to go to hunt!

Second night of BP, second night coming home with deer on the Jeep rack, and I didn't even have to pick up a gun tonight. Took the little boy next door that I hunt with, 11 years old, and he finally got his first deer. 60 pound yearling doe, 30 yard shot, ran 25 yards and piled up. When we got home I showed him how to skin and quarter, tomorrow morning he's going to learn how to butcher and make burgers, sausage and roasts. He's one proud, happy kid. Best part? Told him he had his choice of gun tonight, either the longrifle, the in-line or the old caplock Renegade hawken style .54. Didn't think a second, he wanted to shoot the Jeremiah Johnson gun.

Awesome Osprey, First turkey and deer! Congrats to the both of you. Now you need to have a few of your own and have a flock of killing machines.
My Saturday started out at 4:00am in the emergency room. Tempature of 103.4, eyes swollen, and unable to swollow due to the pain(being sick sucks) They gave me all kinds of drugs and a new eye ointment. When they put it in my eyes I could only see 10 yards max. It was a scary drive home of three miles. I was home at 6:30 and started to gear up, but decided any deer over ten yards away would be safe and I would probably pass out and fall from a tree, I opted for sleeping on the couch. I think I made the right choice but it was a tough one. I feel 95% better tonight than I have in weeks. I'm hungry for some bowhunting next week.

Congrats prostreet. A whole deer of jerky sounds expensive though. But puts a big smile on my face.

Congrats prostreet. A whole deer of jerky sounds expensive though. But puts a big smile on my face. Yeah I bet its going to be about $200 but well worth it to me! That should last me till at least next fall if I pace myself. To bad mdbowhuntr wasnt in his blind this evening, We hunt only a couple hundred yards apart and I bet my shot would have made him jump. ;D
