Thanks for putting those up.
I saw 10 deer on saturday, 7 does and 3 bucks (all 6 point). I was able to get on stalk on 2, one doe busted me at about 50 yards, I got a shot on the other but being twisted around almost 180 degrees while kneeling and misjudging distance, well you know the story. At least the stalk itself was fun. I saw the doe about 80-100 yards feeding along the edge of the tree line. I was upwind but figured I give it shot anyway, she fed towards me while I moved towards her just inside the tree line. I set up behind a small cedar, no more than 3' tall and waited. We played cat and mouse for what seemed like forever, she finally passed me but everytime I tried to move she jerked her head and stared me down. I couldn't take it anymore so I raised up while she was looking at me and she still couldn't figure out was going on she just stood broadside quartering away at what I thought was 20 yards but after stepping it off it was more like 35. Oh well, saturday will be here in 5 more days.

Sounds like you had a good Saturday. Stalking a deer is a hard thing to do, whats even harder is getting the opportunity to do so. It's pretty tough to spot a deer before they spot you and then try to get close enough to it for a shot. I've stalked a few deer before but never ended up shooting one by stalking. You are right about Saturday only being 5 days away...I cant wait.

I grew up hunting out west where still hunting and spot & stalk are the norm. I don't even own a tree stand. Maybe I should re-think my tactics.

Around here, treestands are the way to go for whitetails. I think it would dramatically improve your success.

The bear is awesome. I really want to go and give it a try. I saw a griizzly hunt on tv this weekend and if i ever hit the lottery thats what I'll do first. Treestands around here are tried and tested with a lot of results. However, Deer around here are used to looking up (in a tree) for danger. Stalking, and I don't mean just walking slow thru the woods(like I do), may be just the way to fool these deer. They aren't expecting to have danger sneak up on em. So I say if you have the patience, go for it. During the rut though I'd sit up in a tree.

I did break down and buy some Tinks69, a grunt tube, a Primos "can" and some other scent aids. I figure I need all the help I can get.

Tell me about it! Last year I had a job where I went in at 2pm, so I hunted like 4-5 days a week, and before that I work nightshifts so I hunted every morning! Now I can only hunt on SATURDAYS! only ONE day a week... I guess I'll just have to make them count.

I am hoping to get home early enough tomorrow to quick set up. When I lived in UT, I would take all my duck hunting gear to work, including my dog, arrive early, leave early and hunt 3 evenings out of 5 all season long. This spring for the first week of Turkey I was in the woods well before sun-up hunt until 8 get home be to work by 10 work my 8 hours then do it all over again the next day. I'm not obssessed.

Think I may sneak out in the backyard after work for a couple of hours too. Still waiting on that monster I had been seeing in the yard this summer.
