OOhhhh, guess what I just found while checking the MD Legislature site! HB144 and SB105, would open all Sundays of turkey season for hunting on private lands in Dorchester County. ;D
Listed as emergency legislation, too, guessing that means they're trying to get it through for this coming season?

Dorchester only in this Bill, and only private land.

What made it such an emergency for Dorchester county to allow turkey hunting on Sunday?
Osprey, did you pay someone off? ;D

Not me, I've never been for Sunday hunting. I'll go if it's in, of course, but I like having the day off. Art already said if I can hunt all weekend I'll have to come to work every day during the week, so it sorta sucks for me.

In all seriousness, what would have resulted in this "emergency" legislation and ONLY in Dorchester county?

Well I don't know for sure on this one, but typically somebody with some pull or connection gets the local delegates to put a bill in. I could probably guess who in the county with lots of hunting land, money and connection. The emergency part is just a way to get it for this spring season and not have to wait until 2013, without the emergency tag the signed Bill wouldn't take effect until October with all other new legislation.

That's about how I figured it would work.
In my opinion, odds are it would be someone who has the ability to make a profit off of Sunday hunting. If I was more familiar with Dorchester, I'm sure I could figure out the source of the bill too.

think omalley will sign or veto?
Senate Bill 105 (cross file House Bill 144) pertains to Caroline and Dorchester County – Turkey Hunting on Private Property – Sundays. SB 105 has passed the full Senate and the House committee. House Bill 144 has passed both chambers and awaits the Governor’s signature.

Sign - only because I think he could care less & it has passed both already.

I don't think he'd veto a local bill like that. He may let it go and become law without a signature, which takes a few days longer, but passing both houses should do it! So much for my spring Sundays sleeping late.
