Know a guy that shot a coyote in Nanjemoy a few years back. Got it stuffed in his basement. Pretty cool.

Yes, Its true, I am partial to white beaver; in all seriousness though I have bought my license for the last few years and am interested in learning the right way to trap.

I have a few books you can borrow if you want. Busco read them last year, there pretty simple sets to learn.

Picked up this grey yesterday, and a BIG one the day before.,That's 3 this week, all from the same trap! ! Must be the skunk smell. Dirt still stinks. And we still saw a lot of tracks in the snow the other day,so plenty around.

I would like to trap fox on my property, but basically don't know anything about. Davep - the trap u use, I assume is a snare..... whats the next step after the fox is caught? shoot it? Do you trap for the hide? I want to trap to keep the fox population down on my property but I really have no interest in the hide.

I mostly use footholds,11/2s and a few 1 3/4s. Earlier post has dispatch method (CB caps for everything else) I plan on putting up all my fur this year and shipping off to auction, but really got back into it to teach the kids and thin out the foxes. Was nothing to see 2,3,or 4 every evening I was hunting. More turkeys and rabbits around, but we still have a lot of fox.

Dave have you seen many reds? I havn't seen many reds at all in the last few years, nothing but grays, even road kills all grays. A total of ONE the last few years. My younger brother just called me and said he saw 4 reds yesterday at his place near Denton, so we're going to get after them next month. We had a meeting of the Southern MD MD Fur Trappers yesterday in Calvert, and it seems that no on is seeing many reds. Older guy said comes and goes in cyclce. Distemper/mange knock them back, then slowly come back. One guy did come by with a nice red he caught in Aquasco yesterday morning. Got to see some guys who knew what they were doing setting snares. After carrying 14 1.5s and rebar stakes the other day, snares are looking better to me! ;D And got to try some traps I'd never used before-Lil Griz, etc Just fleshed the FATTEST,GREASIEST grey I've ever seen. Had about 5/8" fat across the back! Starting to turn into work!

Caught 2 red's friday night .... that makes number 26 & 27. Lighten' em up! Good job! Now get some pics up.Been so long since I'veseen many reds.... Whereabouts in Charles? I just got a spot in northern Charles, and mostly greys there as well. It's pretty heavily wooded though. When i catch reds, it's usually more open areas/fields. Haven't set much there, but hope to once ML is over.l

DaveP caught no#28 another red trapping them in welcome we usally do a lot of fox calling but haven't done much so far the foxes are everywhere. Using footholds with mice and moles from the summer. Catching them around our lake (22 acre) and around food plots. Was selling them to the fox chasers but quite buying them.So now just disposing of them. Do you now any outlet for these? ??

It is illegal to sell them live,so a good thing you stopped selling them to the fox chasers.
