Guys, I'm sorry it took me so long to post. I shot my first sika on friday. She weighed about 25 pounds or so. I have been SICK since I got back. I wanted to post but didn't have the energy to write a half ass report, like I'm going to do now. Strepe throat, double pink eye, constant fever of 101.1 to 102.9. SUCKS! I would like to thank Jim Stewart, who invited me out to his place in Dorchester. The story really does rock, the two days of hunting was by far the best hunting I have ever done! I will post pics and story when I can keep my head up. Maybe make it out sat. in the whitetail woods but its not looking to good.

Where is the story and pics, and don't give me that "I've been sick" crap. You were only in the hospital for a few hours!

O.K. I feel great now so heres the rest. We got to the property thusday night around 11:00 or so. Got an hour or so of sleep and we were heading into the marsh first thing friday. My a.m. hunt was slow. I was on point all morning till around 10. I was "resting" my eyes for the first time when a noise made me open them to see a sika forty yards away prancing off. I was sick but at least i saw one. Jim put my in a "meat" stand for the p.m. hunt. This was in a big pine tree overlooking a feeder. Phrag patches everywhere and a great view. The wind was blowing hard as it was in the morning. I saw the sika come in twenty five minutes till dark. It was so little I drew on it but was afriad of my arrow hitting tall grass before it hit her vitals. I lost contact of her once because she was so quiet and fast. She was at the feeder and I was at full draw. The feeder went right before I was going to shoot. She ran 15 yards and stopped, then ran back to the corn. That was a close one, I thought I might not of gotten another shot. I drew, aimed, released and missed. An inch under the heart, she ran 10 yards, then ran back to the corn. WOW, a second shot! A aimed an inch higher and that was it. She ran 10 yards and went down. She made some noise and kicking and that was it. My second arrow was sticking out of the ground 1 inch from the first. When lowering my bow I saw a spike 15 yards away in a big opening. I knocked an arrow, drew and almost released. I was so happy I took a sika I didn't want to get greedy. I didn't want to possible hit it bad and end up tracking for hours. And more importantly I didn't want to tag out. I had another full day to hunt saturday. I was happy with my decision and even though i didn't shoot a stag on Sat. I never second guessed my choice. One of the best hunts of my life!!! Everything about it, the sika, the other hunters, the propety owners hospitality, the new friends I made! I can't wait for more sika hunting. Here is the hind pic.
