If you start counting now, it will only make the pain worse. I like this one......
Only 12 days until turkey season begins.
Gives me something to look forward to in the more near future! ;D

Last year was my second year sika hunting and my first encounter with one while hunting. I listened to the Sika Seducer instructional cd for the two and a half hour drive in the morning. I am really excited to go again this year. I'd like to do a two to three day hunt thogh because ine day at a time is never enough!!!

Can't wait till the opener. Nothing like skeeters sucking your blood while you sit motinless waiting for the sika to emerge from the swamp. Fun times. ;D

Under five months now... And in awesome sika news today, a neighbor told me he had a 4 point stag walk by him when he was tukey hunting today!!!! I'd heard two possiible reports of sightings near the beginning of our road, but this is the first confirmed sika on our Neck. EVER as far as I know.

That is awesome, now if we could "import" some to the western shore well then it would save me alot of gas. Do sika still have their antlers??

I'm still waiting to see one walk by me when I am out hunting. Sounds like I probably have quite a bit longer to wait than you do.

We are supposed to hook up some time next week, unless he gets lucky tomorrow. I'll have to keep him from doing his special Zzzzzzzzzz call & we might stand a chance.

So a few buddies and I have made it a tradition to go over to one of their camps on Maple Dam Road and drive Sika on the last day of shotgun season. We've been successful twice. A nice mature female with beautiful spots down the back two years ago and last year a fairly young female. In the previous years we've tried getting up in the trees and just hoping they would pop up in the reeds within rifle/muzzleloader range. No such luck.
So I've heard the best time to hunt them is during the early muzzleloader, because that's when the rut is in full swing. We've contemplated trying to bugle at 'em in hopes of getting a stag in range. What do you Sika Seekers suggest? Any truth to the "prime time" for them?
