Anybody getting out during this late BP season for sika?? Been too hectic the past few days unpacking and duck hunting, but I'm gonna hit them several days next week.

Well, hunted wednesday-friday the 2nd week, all afternoons, and never saw a sika. Kayaked in all three days. Once where I killed a 6pt with bow in October, still sign but no deer, although I heard the jackholes on the private property next to it had some 11pm shoots during gun season. Other two days tried to home in on a stag bugling way out in the marsh, but never got close. He was 700-800 yards out in the open needle rush! I'm afraid I can top the gut pile story. Got to one of my remote public spots Thursday and some wonderful person built a big wooden box stand! Oh yes, I'm going back with the chainsaw sometime this month and take care of that.

I hear you! After slogging my way back,in chest waders, with everything up on my back,I find a nice permanent stand about 40 yards from where I climbed up.Checked it out best I could.Still plenty solid. And someones just dropped a good bit of corn to boot.May have to drop a dime. With my luck,I can't believe I wasn't "caught" and blamed!

Dave, had a rough week of it myself. Hunted every afternoon and didn't see a thing til Sat. Found a good spot with lots of fresh sign on Fri. so I was pretty excited about Sat. morning. Didn't see anything til 9am so decided to get up and do a little still hunting. Was sneaking through the water and here comes a hind walking right towards me. Given it was the last day of the season and I could use the meat I take a shot. She takes off running and right behind her comes this beautiful stag. I try to get reloaded in time, but no luck. Worst than that I hit a tree I didn't see at 15yds and didn't get the hind either! Will get out with the bow in late season if it gets cold. If the weather stays like this I might be done for the year.

Got back out for a visit to that spot today, didn't take the chainsaw but did have my Gerber folding hand saw. Let's just say I removed that stand with great malice. Guy had empty beer cans and cigarette packs under it and a half dozen empty feed bags stuffed next to it, so he'd been baiting, too. I think there may be ONE board left that isn't cut in two, but I was pretty thorough.

He might have been too drunk to remember where he built it. You should screw a trail cam on a near by tree to catch the look on his face. Priceless.
