Sorry, this one isn't roaming anymore. My best to date, shotgun kill at Blackwater NWR a few years ago.

This is what I mean about BE CAREFUL! This is considered a stag and must be tagged as such. If you shoot one at the edge of light be sure to check before trying for another, it's happened quite a few times to people that they get down and that doe they just shot is a stag. Any antler visible above the hairline makes it a stag on your license...

How much did that one weigh? He looks pretty thick in the picture! He was around 71 lbs if I remember correctly. I think it was Fall 2001. I've seen one or two hogs that went around 100 lbs dressed weight, but that's pretty rare and is normally closer to Ag fields.

The one I shot (my first) dressed out at 75 & from what I understand that is pretty big. Just didn't have as many points as yours. Trying to get an idea of how big these things get. They are pretty exciting to hunt, at least so far.

I sat at the Refuge check station with the biologists a few years ago and it was amazing to see the weight ranges. 6 pointers from 55 lbs up to 80 lbs. Spikes from 45 lbs to 75 lbs. Does and fawns were all over the place, with some as low as 9 lbs dressed for fawns (guys walking picket lines with buckshot, anything that moves is down). Hard to figure them out. One thing for sure, when you see one coming and he's almost black in color and nothing but shoulders and neck, get ready to shoot!!!
