From what i've heard the sika rut is around the end of September into October. Is this right?

I've heard pretty much the same. From what I understand, it peaks from early to mid-October. Excited about going for my first time this weekend!!! Me & a couple of buddies of mine sent out applications to hunt at Blackwater NWR & are going to try it out - hope we have some luck.

Good luck to ya'll. I hear the same about the rut. Much earlier than the whitetails. Those minature elk are sooooo cool. Hard to believe MD has the best wild herd around. I even saw a TV show last week about sika deer hunting on the eastern shore. Road trip anybody??

Hardcore,
I would be able to go next weekend if you can get out of the house.

Oct. 14th is my first day I can go this month. Anyone with a blackwater permit is more than welcome to join me.
