Last year I got hooked on spring turkeys. I hunted solo most of the time, so it was just me versus the birds. Add nice warm weather to the mix, subtract ticks, and you have the makings of a great time in the field.

Grouse hunting in the mountains, just you and the dog against the world. I love watching a good dog work.

That's a tough question, I've had so much fun hunting all Gods creatures. I guess I'd have to say deer hunting when I'm on my own and bird hunting when I'm up for a social hunt. Doesn't matter which birds, pheasant, grouse(ruffed or sharptails) or quail. When the dogs are doing a good job and I'm with my buddies...were gonna have a good time! ;D

I rank my favorite by the adrenaline rush. For me, a gobbling Tom within 50 yards is by far the most intense rush I get out of hunting. I really don’t get excited about deer until after I make the shot. Whenever possible, I like to turkey hunt with a buddy or family member. Much more fun to celebrate with another than to high five yourself! Don’t get me wrong, I am obsessed with deer hunting but down here, I’m all alone, and when I score, I have to do so much work to get it out of the woods it is almost not worth it.

That is a hard one!
I would have to say deer with a bow, and as someone else mentioned, when I am up for a group hunt, it would be the birds.

Hey nybuckstalker, My nephew lives in Salisbury and loves everything about deer hunting, I sure if you ever needed any help getting an animal out of the woods he would be glad to give you a hand. He is "Dudeman" on this site, a nick name I gave him because when he was young he and my son were always calling everyone dude or man, I don't know how but it just got stuck to him. Check him out in "what do you do for a living"

My favorites, depending upon time of year, are currently turkeys, sika bowhunting and mule deer.
What's neat is that looking back I can trace my life in segments by what species and type was my favorite. In high school it was quail, all quail. By college it was ducks, and I didn't miss a day of duck season though most of college and for six years afer. Sometime in that span bowhunting for whitetails took hold and that carried me through until about 5 years ago, which led to the current faves. If we had more upland birds around here I think I may have already drifted back into that, and if I ever move west I know that'll take over again, especially since I've been spending way too much time online looking at setters and spaniels lately...
