I'm a teacher at Matthew Henson Middle School and one of my students told me about this site! I have been hunting for several years but have been hunting whitetail for only 3. Did a lot of moving around from state to state for college and didn't really have residency in any of those states! Now, in Waldorf and hunt behind my house with a bow and in Nanjemoy with all weapons. Haven't had any luck this year! Have a 7 month old and didn't have time to scout out the 40 acres in Nanjemoy so I only saw 1 doe with 2 fawn. Wanted to wait for a buck so I didn't shoot. Look forward to reading all about everyones hunts and good luck!

Welcome to the Site!!
My wife is a teacher at J.C. Parks and we too have a small child (4months old) so I know what you mean by not having much time anymore.
Well glad to see you here and wish you luck, THE RUT IS ALMOST HERE.

Buckmaster, Have you killed any deer yet? Passed on a nice doe. Need to learn how to process my own deer cause I have little money to use towards chuck's or some place like that. It also takes time to cut up my own deer!

Welcome to the site! I have a 1 1/2 month old and a two year old. I know all about no time. I try to scout more, like for an hour at a time, so I can set up in the right spot. (Save myself four hours of sitting in the wrong spot) I have a friend who can process an entire deer in like an hour, so I have picked up a few pointers from him. Its not as hard as I few thought. I Havn't seen any nice bucks either this year but, knowing that there out there keeps me in the woods. Good Luck! ;D

Hardcore, Congrats on the new baby! Boy, girl?? Have signs of big bucks where I hunt in Nanjemoy. Going to hunt there November 5th and 6th. Hunting behind my house tonight and tomorrow morning! Love to hunt in the rain as long as it isn't too hard! Good luck this year and I'll post any kills I get. Might need some help figuring out how to do it but I am a fast learner. Tell me once and I'll be able to do it.

I've got two boys. The oldest one, 2, already is into hunting. Likes watching hunting shows, using grunt calls, and petting my deer heads. A few more years to go though. Good luck in Nov. It should be hot and heavy. You might try baiting now and they will be used to coming to your corn by then.

Hardcore, Got the corn out and ready to go! Hunting 70 yards behind my house and then the property in Nanjemoy. Pretty excited for my first rut experience. Was behind my house on Friday and a small 4 point met up with a yearling on my corn pile. Chased her off and then all of a sudden took off running. Thought he was either scared by a mature buck or was chasing doe. All of a sudden there were 5 doe all around me! Didn't see the 4 pointer again but it was pretty cool. I hope my son gets into hunting. He seems pretty interested in fishing when it comes on tv Saturday mornings! Looking forward to hearing about your experiences this upcoming month! Take care!
