Alright, all you trail cam users I'm interested and hearing from you on this question. How are you using your cameras? How are you setting them up? Are you setting them up looking at a bait pile only? Are you setting them up for deer only, or are you using them to scout prior to turkey season as well? I know this is more then one question but all these questions relate to the first question for clarity. One last question. Are all of you attaching your cameras to trees?

I set up on bait piles and salt blocks mostly. I used to set up on trails but my trigger on the camera is kinda slow. Never TRIED for turkeys but have accidently got a few good shots at my corn pile in the fall. I have always attached to a tree, but just recently got a camera stick. One of the sponsors on the homepage. Havn't tried it yet. Set up on some buck jam I poured on the ground this year. Got pics of deer (bucks and does) fox, coon, possum, and groundhog all at that one spot.

Congratulations on the camera stick!!! You have just entered a whole new world with trail cam scouting. My partner and I designed and manufacture them. If you have any questions about mounting a camera on it let me know. You have my personal email I believe if not hit me in the forum. I will reply with more info later after I hear from the others...

When I put up my first camera, I strapped it right to the tree. It didn't take me long to loose my first one to a bear. I found parts of it scattered around. The second one I put up, I built a box to put around it, Mr. Black Bear found a way to tear that one up too. Since I have purchased a bear box. It is a metal box with holes cut in all the right spots. It works great, and I have gotten some great pictures of the bear trying to figure out how to get to this one.

Deer Hunter, what do mean you have a hard time setting your camera up on a trail. Is it a camera problem or is it a I don't have a place to put my camera problem? I may have some suggestions but just need a little clarification. Also what type or types of cameras are you using?

Captwahoo, those bears are a menace to your photography collection. It sounds to me that an IR camera is in order for you, No flash, digital, not much noise either.

Mainly over bait piles, but some over trails and scrapes. Best buck pics have always been over scrapes or bait late in the year for me. Mainly trees, but have used metal fence poles, bushes, anything handy. I do normally set it out on a strutting ground in the spring before turkey season, but just for kicks as I already know where the birds are.

I have some sort of Moultrie CAM. Paid about 90 bucks at Wal-Mart. Sometimes I have to walk in front of it several times before the thing takes a pic. That's why I usually set it up over bait.

Yea I have a Moultrie spy cam 200 and it has issues just like that. It's brand new. I usually reset it and it works the way its supposed to. One thing that I have noticed with this problem it seems to relate heavily with the battery strength. Somewhere between 50 and 60% it starts acting goofy. I have this camera mounted on the Camera stick looking at trails and looking out over a clear cut area, lots of good pictures. As soon as I figure out the picture posting, I know I'm an idiot, I've got some really good pictures to share that where taken off the camera stick.
