I posted a thread about mounting trail cameras in another forum. I am new to this site and didn't realize that there was a trail cam forum so I will post it heere as well. My questions were this. If you are using trail cameras how are you mounting them? Have you had alot of success with your mounting technique? What are some of the biggest problems with how trail cameras mount?

Hi and welcome to the site tailchaser.
I don't have many problems mounting my camera in the woods, just find a good spot, good tree and hope no one else finds it ;D
Just make sure that there aren't any branches near the line of view, the flash will flood out your pic.
There is a company that sells a Trail Cam post that goes in the ground wherever you want to put it and then just mount the cam to that. I will get you the info on them tomorrow.

Welcome to the site. My cam straps around the tree with a nylon strap. I put it around the level of my stomach. So it catches the whole body of the deer. They have cameras that bolt into the tree when the housing is open. Then the housing gets locked from the outside. So it is very hard for someone to steal. I always worry about mine disappearing. Your best bet is to have it somewhere that deer frequent but other hunters don't. Which can be kinda hard to find.

Mine came with bungee cords that I wrap around the tree and connect to the stand. Just as Hardcorehunter said, I put it at about waist level so that I get a good picture of the deer. I've had the best luck putting them up over bait - the deer seem to hang around there longer & there is a better chance of getting a pic.
