Went out this afternoon and couldn't get anything to bite. I could see massive bass, some one foot off the shore making/guarding beds and some big males 15 feet out waiting for some loving. I tried four different lures. Different retrieval speeds. Nothing worked. Had one monster chase the lure for a split second when I was reeling as fast as I could over his head. Frustrating when you can SEE them ignore your lure. One other factor is the shallows were loaded with toads. All breeding and swimming everywhere. The bass may have been full from eating them as they would have been easy meals. Any tips?

if you can see them in the beds you can always just drop a rubber worm or something in the bed. and 90% of the time the fish will attack it trying to get it out of the bed...

First of all I meant to put this topic in freshwater. But I took a shot of nightquill last night cause I felt like crap and it made me a little loopy. My apologies. Caught four small ones today in about a half hour. When I say small, nothing over five inches. Used a big beatle spin. I did a belly crawl to the bass beds and tossed the lure right into the beds. Waited, jigged it, then stood up and saw the bass staring at me, laughing. Hope nobody saw me trying to STALK a bass.
