Where I have spent a few mornings deer hunting this year, it feels more like turkey hunting. Three to five gobblers sounding off just like spring time. Not just once or twice, I mean for twenty to thirty minutes, on five different mornings. I've never hunted turkey during the fall season in western md , but wonder if gobbling plays any part in it? I thought you found a flock, broke em up, called em in. I swear with the green, humidity, gobbling, feels like may in the woods!

They'll gobble at any time of the year, doesn't necessarly mean they're ready to breed. I've heard them gobble for long spells across the river on calm December duck hunting morning and while sitting in treestands during January blackpowder. Out west they gobbled a ton during the winter. Part of it, from what I've seen out there, was the birds fighting for pecking order.

Good to know guys....I was wondering this myself. I plan on getting out and trying a few times this fall down at the parents place in VA. Maybe things will "click" and I'll have a couple gobbling.
