Yikes, the little buggers want revenge!! I had to fight a raccoon this afternoon, it attacked me!!! Was in the shed putting away decoys and moving firewood when I heard something grunting behind the building. Picked up the axe and walked around the corner and saw this coon staggering along the wall. I ducked around the corner thinking it would go on along the hedgerow and I'd go get the gun, but the bugger took off - right at me! I ran about 10 feet and remembered the axe in my hand, turned around and bopped him with the back of the axe head, in the head, at about 12" from my leg. His head made a nice pop when that metal crushed his skull. Hit the bugger a few more times just because I hate coons. Turns out he'd come after my Grandpop earlier in the day, he was working in the lane and it snuck up on him, when he turned around it was already coming for him. He smacked it with a shovel and it flipped in the ditch, but he couldn't get to it to finish it off. He still moves pretty quick for 87. ;D

Might want to get that coon tested for rabies. Sounds a little too agressive. Then get him mounted as the one you took with your trusty axe. I hate possums more then coons. They look like huge, mean, ugly rats. I shot one with the bow on Tuesday.

I'm pretty sure it was rabid, seems to be pretty bad this year. Neighbor killed one in his garage this summer, it tested positive. We've killed two since stumbling around the yards during middle of the day. Uncle had one last week around 10am sitting on his quad eating the seat (cost $140 to replace, he was MAD) I'm not worrying about the tests, all they'll do is say "Yup, it's got rabies". Didn't bite me or any of the animals, and nothing they can do about it, so not worth the effort.
