I imagine I'll get some time to hunt down here on my buddy's land. It won't be opening weekend though. What part are you hunting? I'll be over in Gloucester County. -- B

My parents have some land down in Northumberland County. Hopefully we'll get a chance before the dogs start running.

That's not too far from me. Good luck out there. I still find that whole dog thing weird, though all of my buddies down here find baiting weird.

The forecast is looking decent on Sat. for opening day although it'll be windy in the morning. Temps in low 40s in the morning with a high of 60 or so. The wind is supposed to die down by mid afternoon.
Quick question: The field I'm hunting near has soybeans that weren't harvested (drought keep them small enough the farmer didn't worry about it). Do you think there will be much interest in the beans? Or....will the acorns still be the major food source.

Just sitting here at my computer eating my breakfast before I go sit out in my tree. Man am I pumped for this. I left my girlfriends house at 3:30 this morning to go to my parents property here in VA and saw a really nice buck on Hurry Rd. Hope to see another one in a couple of hours!

How is that season as far as crowds on public land, dog hunters, etc.?? I've been thinking about trying that one season, maybe near GW National Forest.

I believe that they only run dogs west of the Blue Ridge,so you should be alright at GW. One of the guys with me at Assateague hunted there a good bit, if you want some particulars.

Dog hunting is illegal during Muzzeloader season. They won't start running dogs until regular firearms season.
