Has anyone atempted to freeze apples to use at a later date? I have an apple tree and they are already pretty ripe. I would like to save some for later use as an alternate food source for bait pile . Already using corn and little bit of apples and I tell you deer LOVE some apples. Mine are usually gone in a night.

I get the old ones from the grocery store and when its cold leave them outside. They freeze and thaw and last for a while. You could probably refrigerate them and be ok. The worst thing are the bugs, so the fridge should do the trick. Apples are by far the best in my opinion. I mix them in with the corn.

I was wondering the same thing about freezing apples i have a big apple tree in my yard and my neighbor has a few in his and i have a ton of apples, i usually dump them in different spots back in the woods to attract some deer they usually dont last but about 2-3 days until they are gone , i could probably freeze most of them

I just dump them whole i thought about cutting them in half so they would smell farther away but i only get the ones off the ground and it seems as though one side is always a little screwed up and starting to go bad

You guys are lucky, every time I've tried apples at my place they sit for weeks to months. I think the whitetails on my place don't know what they are, not any apple trees around.
I woud think freezing them would make them awfully mushy, but just keep them in a cool, dry place and they should last for a month or more. A root cellar or basement should be perfect.

;)Thank you all for the info. Hey Fox I have cut a few of them up just to let the smell get their :oattention faster, but I think I will leave them whole this time. Opened the shed door this afternoon and apples were smelling pretty good. Got a bunch out in the freeze for later.

FYI. Do not put any apples anywhere near Big Fox's stand. He may end up eating all of them and leaving nothing for the deer.
