I was over my brothers tonight and he has white oak acorns everywhere. I had about ten kids picking them up for me and putting them in bags. I got three one gallon zip locks in about twenty minutes. What can I do with them now? I was thinking about putting them in the freezer and using them for bait when there are no more in the woods. Or maybe grinding them up to make a cover scent or sprinkle on top of corn piles. Any Ideas??

Neat idea. Maybe freeze them & put em out late season.

Get them in the freezer ASAP. I had a alot of acorns fall around my house last year and gathered them up into a recycling bin then put them in my garage. The acorns underneath the top layer started growing and molding, I ended up throwing them out in the backyard, even the tree rats would not touch them.
Once you freeze them your options are endless.

Crush them, boil them in water and use the liquid as a cover scent/attractant in a spray bottle.

My uncle did the same thing osprey! Fell asleep and had three squirrels circling him trying to figure out what it was that looked so ugly but smelt so good! He got up to get away from the squirrel and three deer were right behind him, down wind. My uncle does the same thing every year and I am doing it this year! Freezing them right away and using them frist for a cover scent and if I have enough late season bait!! My wife thinks I am crazy. Well, her words were NUTTY!

I also collected a recycling bin full once and filled the bin with water and 50lbs of water softener pellets (Salt). I let them soak for about a week and dumped them out in a pile. They were gone three days.

There is some sort of acorn rage product. I saw buckmaster buy a bag for like 12bucks!!! Can't be anymore than crushed acorns with salt and minerals added. Probably a filler as well like crushed alfalfa pellets.
