I noticed the acorn crop is really good this year but still green. They should hit hard them up once they start falling.

Was seeing deer feeding in standing corn on a regular basis up until a week ago. Went looking and noticed alot of white oaks were dropping. Not all of them but a few. Every tree that was dropping acorns was loaded with deer sign. Its worth the look; I think they really like that first taste of acorn for the year.

I remember getting corn from the Stolfzfus' on 236 when it was $6 dollars a bag. Now its $10!! I guess thats what happens when you have a drought year.

It went up before the drought I think the key word here is Ethanol. I believe it jumped (the price) in Dec 06

I watched deer feeding Saturday on acorns and black cherries. Must be like peanut butter and jelly to them.

For those of us in Wicomico.......Gander Mountain is 6.00 per 40 lbs. Out on Rt.50 and Rockawalkin Road I pay 10 per 100 pound bag and 5.50 per 50 pound bags. Thats up a couple bucks since last year.

One of the oaks in my backyard has dropped quite few accorns, I also threw out some corn to see what they would hit. 3 does and 2 fawns were hitting the accorns and a spike was hitting the corn.

I scouted to BIG white oaks (100+ years old) that draw deer from all around. I saw hundreds of quarter size acorn caps but not one acorn. I can't imagine the deer didn't even leave one acorn behind. I assume it dropped couple weeks ago and they ate the acorns then.

My deer have really backed off from my molasses corn. Not sure if it is because of the change in diet or the fact that two doe were killed in 3 days near my pile. Acorns all over my driveway now... they are falling pretty heavy!

Saw a pretty nice 8 this evening in the field behind me just before dark. He was probably 16 or so inches wide/ 3 1/2 years old. He was standing there at 25 yards broadside & was rellly close to letting one fly, but I let him walk. He will be a REALLY nice one next year.
