Well to start off i have about 10 acres that i hunt that borders a couple hundred acres of state land.(It works for me) Well the state has decided to sell the land (or has already been sold). Well the knew owners are planning on making a new housing development out of it. Now they know about the abundance of deer there and they are saying they might just start building and let the deer go where the deer go. But then there are major roads near by and that causes a problem so they arent sure about that either. Their next idea is to have a managed hunt in the area. This is where it messes with me. I only have 10 acres of woods that i hunt.(i've hunted here for years) And if they go through with the managed hunt im almost sure i will be able to have little or no hunting. Considering If there will be deer left in the little area. I guess its looking like i might have to find me a new hunting spot which isnt going to be easy to do....This just really sucks because i put a lot into my little bit of land, I take an acre and make small food plots with what i have. I have trail cameras out and tree stands. I guess im going to be starting over

you hunting should be real good for the first couple of years, while they are out doing test pits and working ion the area it will push the deer onto you land. you biggest problem will be people coming onto your land now that the other has been sold. good luck, i to know how good property is hard to find. but thanks to a great friend of mine i have a nice farm to hunt on.. wish you the best of luck

That Sucks. Not that this is a great thing, but it sometimes takes years for builders to get permits and surveying done. That at least gives you some time to line something else up.

They actually just had an article in the news paper about the issue....They say the manage hunt will be a last resort so i guess thats pretty good. And there must have been way more land than i thought because in the paper it says its a 1200 acre wooded area. You all have good points..Maybe the dear will take refuge on my 10 acres...Well now that i hear some different opinions i can kinda see it in a different way and it doesnt seem it will be all that bad, well hopefully. Thanks for the Replies.

Place next to me sold to a developer a few years ago,and other than 4 wheeling trespassers, hasn't hurt my hunting. YET!
But,looks like they are going to start digging soon, so I expect the worse this year. Not so much for me, because I have a lot of other places to hunt. But my wife jus thunts here. Plus, there is a lot to be said for being in your stand 15 minutes after you wake up!
