The above picture is a picture of Charlie Burroughs (DHEXTREMECB on this site).. Unfortunately Charlie drown out duck hunting this past Thursday near Indian Head MD. He and a hunting companion went out in a small boat for an evening duck hunt. When heading back to the boat ramp their boat took on water. At that point one of the men called via cell phone for help. Before help could arrive they had to make a swim for it as the boat sank. It is not clear if they took on a wave or the boat flipped but either way the men tried to swim to shore. One man and the dog that was with them made it to Indian Head base and Charlie never did. He was located Friday via sonar by rescuers. This is a tradgedy and may or may not have been avoidable. Charlie was an avid hunter and was very close friends with a few guys I know and hunt with. His loss hits home for those guys and you can feel it as it hits close to home and affects several of my friends. Please take the proper precaution when hunting or doing anything for that matter. It only takes a split second and you could lose your life just as Charlie did. Charlie died doing what he loved but maybe it could have been prevented. I only hope that Charlie can RIP and hopefully his loss can remind just one person that there is not an animal out there worth your life. Please wear your life jackets and use your head when going out in the water. RIP Charlie you surely will be missed by alot of people..

Man, I heard those reports on the radio but never heard a name, that's a damn shame. Way too young for that, I'm sure the whole forum will keep him in our thoughts.

This is very sad. Charlie was one of my closest friends and he will be sorely missed. I have talked with Nick who was with Charlie that day and what happened was when coming back across the river waves started crashing in the boat. They tried to get to their life jackets but were unable to due to the water coming in the boat. Nick was very clear that Charlie saved his life. Charlie was quick on his phone to dial 911 and if it weren't for that call no one would of known they were out there and Nick would not have been picked up by the rescue boat. Charlie was like a brother to me and I can't put in words how awful this tragedy is. I will never forget the times we got to spend together. I love you brother and miss you like crazy!

Heard about it late last week, but never heard a name. My condolences. And you are spot on Andy about how fast things can go bad. I also hope, that if any good can come out of this tragedy, it is that we ALL will be more careful. RIP

Just to let everyone know I stopped by the viewing today to pay my respects and drop off some flowers from the FORUM.. It was a very uplifting sight to see so many people that truely cared for Charlie and how the decked the place up with his taxidermy mounts and pictures of hunting experiences he had been on. I am sure he will be truely missed by MANY MANY folks.
RIP Charlie Burroughs and may you find peace in knowing you had many loved ones and friends that will miss you dearly...

I am a friend and coworker of Charlie. His Funeral service was today and some of his hunting buddies did an awesome tribute to him. They duck, goose and turkey called and did a shotgun solute. "Thank You", Andy for the flowers from us on this site. RIP Charlie and if there is duck hunting in Heaven , " CUT EM' ". You will truly be missed.
