so i got the woods early this morning and around 9 i was getting a little cold so i decided to tack a little walk around the property. when i got back to my stand i saw a deer maybe 70-80 yards away right at the edge of the field i was on, had to shoot quick though it was a large doe ended up being busted up buck. Best part is the shot was off had which i have been practicing, with my late grandpas old j.c. higgins 30-06. If that old gun could talk I make it a point to try and use all his old guns just has he did.

Congrats!
It's fun to use the old guns. The only reason I use something other than a flinter in gun season is that I like to carry my late, great Uncle's .270 out and kill something with it. My great aunt always likes to get the phone call that it's still seeing action and producing, too.

CONGRATS! And it ALWAYS means more when you get it done using a gun with sentimental value! I'm sure Grandpa's smiling down on you!
