No kill shots today, but what a great morning it was to be out. Climbed in my stand before sunrise, enjoying the Sunday bowhunt, with a grey, cool day that just felt like November. Geese were honking in my impoundment - I'd got by them in the dark without flushing them. Some good sized flocks of ducks went by overhead in the predawn. With daylight does were out in the field and food plots. By sunrise turkeys were yelping, half gobbling and sounding off from roosts all over the woods, then flew down and started fighting in several places. Watched them walk out to the field, at least 23 on my end and more out the other edge. Had several little bucks scraping and cruising the woods edges, and even had a nice shooter 8 come within 5 steps of taking an arrow. He had a pretty good, thick , chocolate rack, not a buck I've seen before, and I even got to watch him make a scrape. Sitting in the three much longer than I normally stay, now with swans and geese trading overhead and squirrels rummaging around in the leaf litter, it just felt great to be out and be alive. Best of all I never felt a single skeeter! Hope you guys are all getting out there...

Sounds like you had one heck of a day. I would have stayed a little extra in my stand had my day been going like that.
I went out this evening & had a great afternoon hunt, even though I didn't see a deer. It was my first time hunting at my new house & it was very nice to walk out of my garage & a couple hundred yards into the woods. Saw numerous squirrels & listened to the stream flowing by, just picturing that monster walking by, but he never did. I am sure that he will, I just have to put in my time.
By the way,
I didn't see any skeeters either!

That wasn't the meaning, but it must have been prophetic. In the evening hunting a different property I had a 30 yrd shot at a big 8 pt, but convinced he ducked the shot on me. Shot looked and felt good, but even though I followed his trail in the marsh for 70 yards from the mud kicked up, never found a bit of blood. Arrow is nowhere to be found, but I'd expect that to be buried in the marsh mud and phrag. Spent all morning, even took the dog, but nothing. Would have liked to have him hanging, he was a nice one!
