I'm looking at picking up a new rifle in on of these calibers.
Also contemplating a .243 in an ar platform.
Give me some opinions.

.257 Weatherby = Expensive ammo not available everywhere, 7MM-08 although not as widespread as 30.06 or 300 Win Mag can still find cartridges . It is available in AR platform and is good for younger shooters . We have one in a model 7 Remington . Started out as a youth rifle and we updated with a fiberglass stock. Nice caliber it recieves alot of good press and has worked well for my sons. Ed

I like the 257 it is a wicked round and very flat shooting. My dad brought his out to Wyoming and I shot my mule deer and antelope with it 2 years ago.. He loads his own ammo and it was extremely accurate and knocked them down.. Great round.

I've been wanting a .243 for a while, so that's the one I'd be partial to. Will make one hell of a groundhog gun too. ;D ;D ;D

I bought a 243 this year. I really like it. But I can tell you from first hand experience that 257 is a NASTY round and really thumps the crud out of a deer..
