Slipped in to a public spot Friday evening for sika that's not too hard to reach and normally overlooked by most people, mainly to see what the water levels were doing down in sika land. Was in the stand and set by 3:30. At 4:30 had three guys come in on me, two went to a nearby patch of pines, another came into the point I was on. Mind you that the spot is barely big enough for one person on a gun hunt, much less two. Dude walked right by me, within 10 yards, said he was sorry and then set up 80 yards past me. I thought to myself "doubt you're sorry, if you were you wouldn't have walked out here, Jerkwad". Idiot pushed into the thick spot where they bed, clanging his stand and scoped inline, and never even saw the big stag and three hinds he kicked out. Last I saw of them those deer were a mile out on the marsh and still hauling the mail as hard as they could go. Hadn't planned on shooting a hind, but at this point I'd decided anything that came by was getting shot. Just before 6pm I hear splooshing out in the needlerush, a hind is coming straight into my setup. Let her get on the higher ground, lined up the sights on my flintlock and Boom, dropped her in her tracks. So with just over a half hour of the best hunting left I got to climb down, make a racket, gut the deer and clang my way out of there just as it got dark, all with a smile on my face.
