So it is opening day of the 2011 Muzzleloader season and I decide to trek over to my hunting lease on the Eastern shore... First light I blow on the SIKA SEDUCER and look to my left and there is a BIG STAG standing in the clear cut 150 yards away. Wind is blowing at least 20 miles and hours. I get so excited I rush my shot and I miss. I searched for blood or sign for at least an hour just sick at myself for rushing and not taking my time. THOUGHT the day was over. I get back in the stand after walking out to the truck to sulk and take a pee break. Get back in the stand about 1015-1030.. About 1130 or so I think I hear 2 faint bugles in the distance so once again I break out the SIKA SEDUCER and give 3 challange bugles.. I about fell out of the stand when this nice 5 point comes CHARGING in ready to fight from the clear cut in front of me. It happened so quick I didn't have time to think. I just got the gun on him, he turned broad side at 35-40 yards and POW he goes down. Great STAG...
So I am super pumped. I call my good buddy HUNTER (Jerry) who is hunting his property in PG county. He tells me congrats and he is heading to Charles County to hunt the evening. Tells me to stop by the property when I get over on the Western shore. I call Jerry about 300pm and he heads out to his truck where I meet him to show him the STAG.. He offers to let me hunt one of his spots on the property for the evening that holds some great deer. How could I pass that up? So I gear back up and head up to a great ridge loaded with OAKS. I notice a few scrapes on the ground as I head to a tree very near where my son killed his first deer and where I shot a decent buck bow hunting last year. Get set up for the evening hunt. Time drags by watching squirrels carry on... This black squirrel has some history with me and Jerry but he decided to come up to within 5 feet of me to say hi tonight..
So I am sitting there watching squirrels and it gets to about 615 or so. I check the cell phone and figure even with the wind this is DEER:30... I hear something off to my left and take a peek and more squirrels.. Next thing I know I hear a crunch in front of me I turn to see the biggest buck I have ever seen from a tree stand standing directly in front of me at 12 feet from my tree. I about die as I slowly start turning my muzzleloader as he checks 2 scrapes I never saw till RIGHT THEN. He is facing me but I have the scope on him and when he looks up at the licking branch or me (not sure which one) I drop the hammer on him. He nose dives into the ground and I watch as the biggest deer of my life folds up shop less than 25 yards from my tree. I called Jerry and was screaming like a little girl.. BEST DAY EVER... I just want to thank JERRY for once again offering me one of HIS spots to hunt and letting me take the best whitetail of my life.. What a great day in the deer woods and could not have asked to spend it with a better guy then Jerry. Even gutted my deer for me when I cut my finger real bad while getting ready to gut MR BIG..... What a great guy and THANK YOU JERRY...
Really cool I found my muzzleloader slugs out of each deer.
NALLEY caping him out. Weighed over 190lbs and rough scored 132 inches...
