You can all thank Irene, but plenty of water in sika land, bugs will be hatching around Labor day. By the archery opener they'll be plentiful and extremely hungry.
Fox, they'll probably be some of those big ferox sp., too, the big freshwater bugs that take a hunk of flesh when they bite. I hear they like to sit on deerstands and wait to attack from above when you walk up. ;D

Hey Fox, come down this weekend and tell me what you think. First wave hatched here Sunday morning, second and bigger wave came off yesterday/today. Oh my freaking god we've got skeeters.

We made it out alive but a little light headed from blood lose. It is like I have never seen over there. they attacked the truck when we pulled into the gate. I hope Hunter is ok. I think he got the worse of it since I put on a rain coat to try and fend them off.. It was UNREAL and going to make for a long day in the stand Thursday. Really thinking about getting AT LEAST one more THERMACELL to run Thursday. On a positive note the pics I did get on cam were decent. No BIG stangs but lots of day time photos.. Should be a good day in the woods if you can keep the skeeters off you...

Big Fox isn't kidding and I have never seen skeeters so BIG!! or so many on our property. Seriously I was lucky to get out of there alive and still feeling a bit woosey from the blood loss. I give the big guy major props for being one tough SOB to hunt opening day at our property, my female thingy ass is going to hunt my PG county property.

I have one firm rule for sika hunting. When I pull up to where I need to park and the hood changes color from all the skeeters landing on it, I turn the Jeep around and go home! And in case you're wondering, that's completely serious, have had it happen more than once.

...and there will be a few million skeeters wanting to stick a fat hind end, too! Pay attention just around daybreak, you should be able to hear the hum throughout the woods if it's calm.

Haven't tried them, but thought they were more for ticks and chiggers.
