Was at Ft.DeRussy off Military rd in Washington Dc doing a pre job survey and saw a 10 point buck with about a 18"-24" spread on it, tried to get in close to photograph it being that the camera was the only thing I had to shoot it with, but he bolted before I could get close enough. Does anyone know anybody that hunts in DC? The land I was on belongs to the national park service and is part of the rock creek park.Last I knew there were certain places in DC that you could bow hunt, but have never heard of anybody that does.

I have heard of other places in DC that hold big bucks, but not of anyone hunting there.

I did find something on a proposal to hunt there, but it wasn't even on the parks agenda. pub29.bravenet.com/forum/2436018689/fetch/651242/Don't know if it passed, but I doubt it. On the park website all I could find is "NO HUNTING ON ROCK CREEK PARK".

I think that the weapon of choice in DC is the 9mm, not much take down power but holds allot of rounds and sometimes what their hunting is shooting back!! On a serious note, I've never heard of any hunting inside the DC line. I've hunted with some Metro police officers that bow hunt and they would have cashed in on any hunting in Rock Creek or any where else in DC for that matter.

I do live about a mile from Rock Creek park and fish in it when the fishing bug/cabin fever is too much. Have seen too many 10 points to count. Near the Zoo on Connecticut avenue the does are bankable, very nice and fat ones. I am quite certain that hunting is a big no-no here, moreover, a bow is classified as a weapon, and no points for guessing what happens to someone apprehended with a weapon on a federal property.
NOT worth it.
