Mid - day is a great time to hunt the big boys. On Jan.7 my nephew spotted a big 8point on his way to his stand at about 1:15pm, he was with 2 does. I've seen big bucks in the middle of the day in years past but it's hard to hunt all day. Sometimes I'll give up the morning hunt and hunt from 11am till dark. Congrats. to that hunter on that nice buck.

moon phases have alot to do with when deer move. Moon bright, they feed all night so they move more mid-day than anything

Well, the rack is at the taxidermist now........I will def have to get it scored, everyone seems interested in it. I would do it myself, but I'm not real sure with the non-typical scoring method. I can do typical, but non-typical, i dunno. I am definently anxious to see what it scores, I still don't think it has sunk in about how big it is......

Thanks on the congrats for buck of the month, it's a shame it's the only hoss in the january section, once again.......it's always about being in the right place at the right time........LUCK is a major factor, 15 years of hunting paid off, but i know those who have been out there longer, I wish them the best of luck and you can't get a big one, if you don't hunt where the big ones are. I am truely appreciative of this amazing animal i took, like I said in the January post, this is probably my once in a lifetime buck

Score update..........as I posted in Sika Seekers earlier, I was over at the taxidermist, Southern Maryland Taxidermy, a couple weeks ago and his guess would be high 140's low 150's. Deerehunter I know you were terribly interested in that....
