Was time for another Blackwater shotgun hunt today! Fox, myself and my buddy Art were in one area, only one deer seen from stand, a wierd sika spike with curved back antlers that I rolled with buckshot around 7:30. The Deer Hunter and Bartman had the hot hands (well sorta for Bart ) but I'll let them tell their respective tales...

I had a great day....... ;D I got a hind, a doe, and a 9 point whitetail. Saw 21 deer in total, but unfortunatley most of them were whitetails??? I was getting really excited during the last hour of the hunt as the grass was moving all around me. One after another, 3 whitetail fawns popped out, followed by the smallest sika deer I have ever seen. Would possibly have dressed out in the single digits..... Fifteen minutes later a small spike comes out, then 15 minutes after that, 3 more whitetail fawns. My dad did take his first sika yesterday, a hind that dressed out at 75 lbs!! All in all a great day in the marsh!!! Do sika usually walk and browse with whitetail?? That was the second time that I saw that yesterday.

Sometimes, especially younger deer. Doubt you'd see a stag and a big WT buck though...
Congrats to your Dad, that's a huge hind! I butchered the spike I shot and he had way more fat on him than the whitetails I've killed this year, he was only 61lbs by the way.

My buck & the doe I got on Monday came out right behind 3 hinds & a small spike stag, but I think that one was just coincidence. They weren't walking the same trail, just happened to all show up at the same time.
