Left the house a little after 3pm this afternoon, walked back to a stand, just capped my ML,and was moving my pack out of the way when I heard running footsteps. Turned my head to the right and saw a buck coming hard. Started mouth grunting, but he kept running. I turned back the other way as he passed behind my tree inside 10 yds. Grunted my fool head off and he FINALLY stopped about 70 yards out. Behind a huge tree! Soon as he moved out from behind the tree I fired. THOUGHT I saw him stumble a little as he crested a small rise, but then nothing. Couple minutes later, thought I saw brush whipping around, but hard to tell as it was blowing hard. Stared til my eyes hurt, and eventually saw antler. On the ground. ;D Wife said there was a MUCH bigger one by my stand at 0700. (too far for her to shoot from where she was) And my youngest (my deer recovery expert!) said he saw a "Great big buck" chase a doe right across our back field about 11:00 today. Heard good bit of shooting, so hope you all did some good.
