Maryland Recovers Hunt Camp Goods
Annapolis, Md. (February 25, 2010) - The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) charged Mathew Brian Hungerford Sr., 46 of Germantown, Md. with four counts of theft over $1,000 but less than $10,000 and one count of theft scheme having a value of $10,000 but less than $100,000. The arrest is the result of a year long investigation into stolen property from hunting camps in Somerset and Worcester County.
NRP officers became aware of the stolen property during the investigation into poaching problems occurring in Somerset County. Information was gathered to obtain search warrants for a business and residences in Montgomery County. The search warrants were executed on February 24. The articles that were recovered during the search warrants resulted in Hungerford's arrest.
The recovered stolen articles had a total valued at over $27,000. The articles included a John Deere Gator ATV, six wheeled Polaris ATV, and a Mercury 40 hp outboard stolen from Somerset County. A four wheeled Polaris sportsman ATV stolen from Worcester County was also recovered.
Hungerford has a second home in Rumbley, Somerset County. No court date has been set in Montgomery County on these charges.
