My hunting partner quickly put a tape on him and came up with a rough gross score of 270"!
It is a safe bet that he is the new state record!

I believe Bill contacted DNR who told him it takes either 60 or 90 days to get an accurate score. I think he's waiting on any details to be released until then.

I helped Bill recover his Monster on Monday evening. Bill is a very seasoned hunter so when he called me and said in a very serious yet excited voice "I think I just killed the new state record" I knew he was not kidding. Although the walk from the truck through the corn fields and into the thicket only took about 5 minutes, it felt like it took hours. The anticipation grew and grew as we approached the spot where Bill said he saw the monster go down. And finally with one turn of the maglight we were upon the giant. It was a moment of so many emotions - shock, joy, excitement and pure disbelief. The buck was like nothing I had ever seen before. It reminded me of walking through Bass Pro and looking at all of the legendary Whitetail giants lined up across the wall. Bill is a true sportsman and this trophy could not have gone to a finer gentleman. Congratulations Bill!!!

Possibly his brother? Or maybe father? ?? Sure hope there are more deer running around like him. I know I wouldn't shoot any doe on that property for the rest of this year - wouldn't want to risk shooting one pregnant with one of his offspring. Trail camera pictures show some extra points and length that either broke or did not form this year.
