Just started hunting Blackwater and would like to know how well they would work there. What features should I look for? I need one that's easy to use and accurate. Any that you would recommend?
Not always easy to get a signal in some of that woods. I've got an older Garmin, but usually use it more in the boat for fishing. Sika hunting I just go by landmarks and memory. I do use it for the spots I hunt on state lands from kayak or boat on foggy mornings though, been a lifesaver a few times in that situation!

I'm not familiar with those models. I have an E trex. Gets great signal everywhere, even in thick forest. Its not a real fancy model. Pretty basic and easy to use.
I checked and I have the E-trex too. Mine's at least 6 years old though. Be careful in sika environments, they don't really like water. My screen sorta goes in and out now, saltwater ain't good for 'em.

After your input I decided to get an Etrex Legend. Did I get the wrong model or am I just not understanding how to use it. I just want to be able to mark my way in and out.
Is there one that does less and is easier to use? Any place I can go like.......GPS for Dummies?
