;D Went out tonight with my bow and put my boss on a well traveled bottleneck overlooking open swamp. I saw two fawns however he saw six deer. Now here's where it gets good. He first saw a doe come out of the thick into the open 80 yards away. She was followed out by a very large mature buck with his head up her butt. Then the buck proceeded TO MOUNT HER and get busy. My boss was freakin out and since he had his ML, all he could do was watch. He saw another medium buck heading toward the other two and they all disappeared into the thick. I thought it was too early for that but it happened!

Seems like everyone I have been talking to recently has hit or almost hit a doe being chased by a buck! Like I said before, this is my first rut. Never been in the woods during this time. Don't know how long the big boys can keep it up..... no pun intended...... but if it is happening now, when will it be over? Roughly?

As a general rule, I use the first Saturday of shotgun season as my indicator that the deer pattern is changing. After this day, I have not had as much luck with the rutting deer.

I think the rut is about to get started when i went out with my dad afew days ago we put out some doe scent and in a little a young buck came practically running in, he was so focused on that scent he didnt even check his surroundings

Guy hit a nice 6 point last night as we were coming home from Trick or treating with the kids. i had to get out and put the big boy down, that is to bad but i hated seeing him suffering on the side of the road.

That is a National park in Fort Washington - no pressure there. The deer let you get pretty close. I was sitting in my truck with the camera out the window when I took those. Nothing like deer in the wild, but still cool to take pics of.
