All I've got to say is Holy MoFo, Who Flipped the Switch?!?!?!?! It's on!!! Went doe muzzleloading last evening with my neighbor's kid, and again didn't see any whitetails at my place. Tonight I bow hunted and 20 feet past where we sat was a fresh scrape, another just in the woods, another older one reworked farther in. Saw 4 does from stand, and when I hit the field edge coming out at dark the BIG BOY was standing 25 yards in the field, I could see his rack gleaming in the twilight, he snorted and jumped into the woods and was gone. And coming back to town there were deer everywhere tonight! Did I mention it seems TO BE ON?!?!?!?! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Was taking the BP gun out in the morning, but can't risk it. My bow will be with me till shotgun, just in case. I'm giving does a free pass for the next 5 weeks. Unless they snort at me, then I'll try to put em down.

I've already secured thursday afternoon. With rain coming thursday night and the seek on there should definetly be some activity.
Hardcore Hunter, I was just reading an article about hunting with a shotgun w/00 buck (or maybe a rifled slug through a smooth bore, ?? choke?). The author said he was using a Benelli Nova with a mod choke. I had never thought about using my Nova with 00 to hunt. Any advice/suggestions?

Mdbowhuntr I read that same article. Buckshot is illegal to hunt with in Maryland though. I have a mossberg 835 and it has a rifled barrel to shoot sabots. I also have an old remington that I shoot a regular old cheap slug. The last few years I just shoot the cheap slug out of my rifled barrel. They fly just as good as the expensive sabots and make a lot bigger of a hole.

Maybe I will just stick with the bow and buy a ML for next year. Thanks for the info.

Bow is the way to go in my eyes, though I use a ML when the season is in. I just feel like I have an unfair advantage if I use a bow during ML season because the deer are more pressured. If it was up to me, I would cut out this early ML season - it is prime time & messes up my bowhunting.

Hey, you'd be taking away a hot sika time and an extra set of tags!! Stop that!! Buckshot is legal - but in Dorchester County only. Think it's a sika deer rule for the marshes, but you can use it here on whitetails. Had a doe under me today, but heard some grunting farther back in the woods, back out in a few hours for me...
