Seen a lot of deer dead on the side of the road last few days. Mostly young bucks and does. Chase phase has begun. Anybody noticing the same thing?

I have been seeing them myself. Sad way to find out that the rut is about to begin though.

I have a great new slogan for a t-shirt. "Shoot a deer, save a bumper!" I wonder if it would catch on? LOL

i love the idea, i know a guy that makes t shirts for a side job, i may run that past him, maybe have him throw a buckwild adventures on the back.

Sign me up for a shirt.
I was thinking of starting this thread on the way in today (saw two this morning). I guess it is time to put a saw in the truck just in case I find a good rack!

How can you get in trouble? Should you call and let them know a deer was hit and you are cutting its antlers off?
Does anyone know a DNR man that can get a definitive answer to this. The last thing I need is to be locked up for cutting antlers off a spike buck (I wouldn't mind if the rack is nice)!

from what i understand you can get busted for poaching for stopping and cutting the antlers off. i have heard that for years, so i am always real careful if i stop and i never stop at daylight unless it is a big one..

A few years ago THE DEER HUNTER and I came across a nice 8pt that was hit by a car. The drivers had called the local Police and they were there in a matter of mins. They wrote us out a tag so we could take the whole deer.

they will do that but you HAVE to take the whole deer, they WILL NOT let you just cut the antlers off of it.
