Just started using a Therma-Cell this year to help keep those early season buggies off me. When in use you can see some of the vapors coming from the unit and a distinct smell comes from it as well. It helps keep the bugs off my back, but am I scaring any deer from?

Not knowing anything about them but what you just said, my answer is YES!! If you can smell something coming off of this contraption, then there is no question in my mind that the deer can.

I use one sometimes and have never killed a deer while using it. But have seen deer. If the wind is blowing the right way it shouldn't matter as much. More smell but less movement.(constant swating)

I use one extensively, this is the third year. Yeah, a bit of scent from it, but I can't say it's spooked any deer. If it has, it's been when the wind is wrong and I suspect they're probably smelling me as well. Killed several deer while using it, and I hunt in Dorchester so I'm going to keep using it! It keeps the bugs away and that's at LEAST a fair trade!!!

I agree I have been using mine for years now and wont live home without it during the early season. I have killed many a deer while using the device, I think anu odor yu have will cover it by far it does put off a very small amout of odor but it is worth the trade off to keep the bug away. Beside if I didnt use it no deer would come by because I would moving to much smacking bugs.
