I am curious.... Who here like Tred Barta? I am watching him now... he has taken 5 shots with his long bow at caribou outside of 4 yards. Two of em were running. He keeps saying that he has to get inside 30 yards but has not taken a shot at that distance cause he is running at them. I personally think he is a moron!! Sorry, does not seem like hunting to me! More chances of injuring the animal more than kiling them!

I think the guy is a douche. When you start the show bragging about yourself, something like I have caught the most big eyed tuna in the world, shot record book deer, shot over 70 big game animals, done everything better than anyone else, etc. Guys a douche.

Saw that same show last night, this guy is an azz. Shooting at running caribou, I coudn't believe what I was seeing! And they put it on tv... it didn't do much for a bowhunters image.

Don't know who he is: don't have cable and don't really watch TV anyway.
But if you haven't stuck a hog with a knife, try it before you pass judgement.
And I KNOW I'm not capable of taking bow shots at moving game (hell, I still miss the EASY ones sometimes), but some folks may be, although I would frown on anyone trying such: too much that can go wrong, and a live animal ain't the place for trying.
I have a tape of Dan Fitzgerald draw and shoot his bow while on the move, at a caribou that was also moving, and punch it through the heart at 70 yds!
Of course, no telling how many he missed,or worse, before thay got that shot on tape.

Every show of his I've seen he comes off a complete jerk, although once in awhile he makes a good point. The one show he and a buddy hiked into public land in CO to elk hunt the same animals that were moving on and off a $10 grand per hunt ranch was pretty good. Overall, wouldn't want to share a blind or camp with him, that's for sure.
But I would like to jump on a critter with a knife. Heck, Meshach Browning did it with bears!

Never heard of the guy. I agree with Davep my skills have never been that good.I been shooting bows for 27 years and panic they going to move when I release the arrow still. I won't shoot a arrow if it over 30 yds. or if the animal is moving. I know guys that can shoot longer yardages consistently more then 30 yds.It just not me. I personally love 15 yds. To me the art of bowhunting is drawing a animal in close. My uncle loves hunting pigs with a knife It not for me either, but not oppose to it

it wasnt even a real danger to him it looked to me, the dogs ran it half to death cornered it and he stuck it once or twice, and it wasnt like it was a russian boar or something really mean he probably could have done the same on a farm. I saw the episode when he took a crazy long shot at a mulie and couldnt find it afterwards gee i wonder why. Now jumping on a bear with a knife that is another story jump out of a treestand with it between your teeth not sure PETA would like that show

I jumped on a deer with a knife. I shot her and walked up on her to drag her back up a hill she crawled down. She looked dead, but POPPED up and startded swinging her front hoofs at me. I kicked her in the head then jumped on top of her and stabbed her in the neck with a dull poket knife (left my bow and hunting knife at the stand) Knife wouldnt kill her, I ended up covering her mouth with my hand while laying on her until she soffacated. Worst hunting experience of my life.

how you make fun of people like bigfox! I still don't like him though!! Douche is a great word to describe him!!! HA! DAMN FOX! That's HARSH ;D ;D ;D Brett, he's too big a boy to say that about!!! I thought I was GONNA DIE in '86. I was hunting in Garrett Co on a buddy's family farm, with both his side, and the WVA side of the family up in Gorman/Gormania. A bunch of us drove a real thick area: pushed out a dozen or so does, before a spike got up. It ran to the cut cornfield up on top and the guys on stand unloaded on it. Then it turned and came back down the mountain side, and all the yahoos up top continued to shoot.TOWARDS US! Thing piles up between me and another friend. We come out from the ditches/behind trees we were hiding behind when the war broke out and the fools were shooting our way. Said fools up top are all arguing over who shot it, and "could you boys drag that thing back up here for us?" I grab it by one a spike and it proceeds to wake up and quickly turns into a real rodeo It gets up as I go down.I'm trying desperately to keep from getting stuck (hooves were bad enough!) when my buddy Tim (Fox sized) grabs the other spike and throws it. He winds up on top, across it's back, and I have the head/both spikes. He calmly asks for my knife, then proceeds to stick it directly in the heart, from between the front legs. (I seen it done since, works better from the side) Last time I've hunted with that bunch OR particiated in a deer drive. Since I'm up anyway, going to go find that Dan Fitzgerald tape I was talking about. Heck, he even shoots mice with his bow!
