There are not really any good public spots in my opinion. Got two down at benedict last year and shot at only 4. Nothing really at chapel point. Have my buddies farm that has sunflower seeds and cut corn. Any private place that has gravel pits. I know that Myrtle grove has some really good management areas for dove. Weird days that you can only hunt though. No saturdays..... and maybe tuesday and friday. You should try there if you have those days free.
My friend's mother in law pulls the breasts out of them and grills them with some homemade marinade and/or BBQ sauce. Very good!!!
12 gauge is not over kill inless it flies right at you and you shoot it at 10 yards. I use federal 7 &1/2 or 8 shot, low brass. I don't take shots outside 35 yards.
Good luck and sorry to hear about your job situation! Hope you can find one soon!!

McKee Beshers has a couple of good managed fields you can hunt on. Usually a lot of birds around. They should have some crops on the ground by Sept 1.
