My brother killed his first deer with me on opening day firearms. I took the three pointers skull and started with a european mount for him. Skinned, removed all junk, boiled three times. Had it down to bare bone and left it on the picnic table for a few weeks.
Today I found it being used as a chew toy for my dog! She has eaten the ENTIRE skull except for the top of the eyesockets and the piece in between the antlers. It looks like a skull plate that was cut off a buck. She also ate the end of one of the antlers. I freaked out, I mean I KIRKED out. I wanted to bash my dogs skull in and make a european mount with it. But I didn't, I calmed down and realized I should have found a better spot to put the skull.
My bro took the news well, he was kind of like "No big deal, don't worry about it". I can buy one of those plaques that covers the skull with material and just displays the antlers. But I need to fix the one antler tip. Does anyone know how to do this or suggest someone who does?

Most of the taxidermy supply cos sell the epoxy. Have also seen missing points "spliced" with donor rack parts. Haven't used it myself. I like em as they are (well, never had one gnawed on) I use the natural scalp to cover the skull caps. Comes out right nice.
MAybe get a quality frame, and a nice enlargement of a pic of your brother and the deer? Or maybe the one of the both of you with the deer?

Evans can fix a broken tip. What I would like to found is someone who can turn a 3 pointer into a heavy mass 8 or 10 pointer and add a drop tine and few kicker points for me. I'll pay $25 a point ha,ha ;D

who cares, it was a 3 pointer. as long as you got pictures of the day he killed it with the date and stuff, that would be more important to me. leaving it out wasnt a good idea b/c at night a coon or fox or buzzard could have came and stole it. I always tied mine in a tree.

My kids knocked one off my wall. Evan used a donor rack and airbrushed it in for me if you hold it in your hands you see one little hairline that's it color matched perfect .He has always done a good job for me.

Thanks fellas. I'll stop ny Evans soon. I'm sure he won't be able to get to it for a year or so with as many heads as he has.

Mount it as is on a plaque, and under it write "Mount professionally done with care by (dog's name)".

Might be a way to pick up a few extra bucks and get the dog to do something constructive..
