Not much chatter on here lately, let's see, what can we all gripe about, hmmm, how about $4 Freakin dollar gas! Changing how anybody thinks or acts? I know I'm trying to make less trips and combine errands whenever I can. Glad I like sitting inside working on guns, too. Yet to see how hard it'll hit my hunting trips, may knock out a few things I want to do this fall. Already thinking I may not be too selective on sika. It's a 60 mile round trip almost for me to my spots and back, normally do it 3-4 times a week, sometimes twice a day, but I may shoot the first stag that comes by this fall (yes Fox, that WILL be a hardship for me...). The old Scrambler ain't running too much either. 11mpg sucks!

I don't like it but it is what it is. I won't be changing my hunting because of it though!!! Any changes will be left to the other stuff. ;D
Actually was looking today at ways to sika hunt without driving across the bay bridge. I've got a few routes by boat figured out but have to test them before September.

I don't think hunting will be effected except for the money i spend on trying new stuff. Looking at buying a little car for mileage reason's. MY truck gets about 12 mpg and my hours have been cut to a straight 40 when this time of year it's usually 56-58 per week so no trips planned just going to pay bills and stay close to home and save what i can and watch where this goes. I know quite a few people who are struggling and it's not getting better.

I think you'd have to have a pretty effecient boat to even equal out fuel costs for a sika hunt Frank. Not to mention wind and weather vagaries, although it would make for a cool experience.
I always try to look on the bright side, so I'm hoping the $ may keep people on the western shore and the hunting areas won't be so crowded down here. May help with the ducks at least...

I'm more for the cool experience. The boat will get about 5 mpg on the 12 mile run across the bay. The truck would have gotten about 18 on the 80 highway miles the boat ride will cut out. Do have to pay careful attention to the weather but think it will be a fun time.

Sounds like a plan to me.. You know i will always chip in on gas.. and not the kind Osprey spots off in the deer stands either... when you get back from the fishing trip we need to do some bow fishing Deer Hunter...

You could definitely do Taylor's Island, but it is tough to have a boat that can handle the big water and get in the shallows of TI at the same time. Maybe thow a kayak in there?

Yah ,gas prices suck. our whole economy is f----d up ,groceries ,.electric AND EVERYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF IS RISING ,BUT MY PAYCHECK!! What does our government do, send more money to fight wars and help other countries with aid. I support our troops, but i hate our government. Spend the money on ways to get our economy and Americans struggling back together, not some towel heads who love to blow everything up and kill us!! I get sick and tired of the whole situation!!! Thanks for listening.
