Leaving the house this morning I seen a dead animal on the road right by my house. i thought for a minute and went back to see what it was and it turns out it was a jet black mink with one lil white spot on his lower jaw. I wanted to grab it up and take it home but had the wife and kids with me and she was freaking out about me getting it. Would have like to have it tanned out or mounted since they are so cool.. Any body want to go get it it is on Baptist Church Road in Mechanicsville and must have been hit last night or this morning before 4:30am.. it looked to be in really good shape It was not there yesterday at 6pm when I went home......

Lol...depends on whether that mink had dumped it's musk or not....about the time your eyes started watering and the kids started puking..your wife would have tossed you and the mink out the window...God they can stink.

One a side note, I lost my pet ferret around that way last week. I wonder if anyone has seen it.

I saw one the other day while turkey hunting near a stream. Me and Deer hunter saw one on another property last year while turkey hunting.

They're more common here than you think. There's a crossing on 231 where I see a couple road kills every year, and I don't run that section of road all that often. Heck, seen a few dead on Rt 5 before.

Dave is correct...lots more mink over there than most people realize...they are not an animal that lends themselves to being seen. Western side of the Bay has quite a few but none here on the Shore except for a few feral ranch mink and the occasional wanderer down from Pa.

Morgan, Didn't Jim T. (district guy somewhere over your side ) get some video of one while deer hunting last year? That was the first I EVER heard of one over there. I'll try to remember to ask him next time I see him.I keep forgetting.

I saw a mink while deer hunting in January out in Boyds, MD. I've seen/trapped mink before in Oregon and there is no doubt in my mind thats what it was.

Dave, I did not hear about that one. All the years we were in the Fur business over here I could count on my fingers and toes all the mink that came in from the Shore....99% were ranch mink that got out and the other 1% were suspected "travelers"......Guys would have a huge multicolored mink that they had showed in every bar for 40 miles.....a ranch mink off his feed for just a week is always graded as junk....change in feed changes the color and texture of the fur really fast.
