Way to go BUCKETHEAD.. about time you killed one on your own property. Were you out by yourself or was someone with you>>>> Now come to find out you were not on your property, well that is still awesome and your story on the phone was funny as hell... You and the Deer Hunter sure do like running after those birds.. I just wish I could have got you two on video so i could laugh for a lifetime.....

Well as far as the story goes, this one is short and sweet!! I finished mowing the grass and thought I would hit a field where I have been seeing turkeys mid-morning. I got out to the spot I was going to set up and to my surprise I saw a gobbler in full strut in the woods about 200 yards away. I quickly set up without dekes and let out two yelps. Had three gobblers sound off and he was the only one to come out on the field. He did get hung up at about 80 yards, so I started using the chirp box on my shotgun and he came a bit closer. Finally, after some coaxing he came in at about 40 yards and the rest is history.
Truly one of the fastest and most exciting hunting moments I have ever had. Never thought I would have nailed a trophy gobbler in 15 minutes!! I guess as the saying goes, you never know what'll happen if you're not in the woods!!
