In case anyone is curious and haven't been out yet to scout, 5:50 am seems to be about the time I hear the first few gobbles. Note, they've usually flown down before 6:10 or so and proceed to work a ridge and perform a few strutting scenes. After the first ground stomping performance, they have quieted down shortly after that (6:20 or so). But, be patient as they'll usually gobble 10 min or so later and this can be the most important gobble. It keys you into the direction they're heading.
I had the craziest luck yesterday. Pretty much what I described above happened yesterday. I didn't make shock gobbles, call, or anything. I just tried to figure out where they were headed. I'd say by 7:30 I'd heard 4 additional gobbles, figured where they were heading, jumped around in front of them, and then just sat down. It wasn't a minute later they were 100 yds away and let off another gobble. They (3 mature birds and a hen) then proceeded to walk by at 40 yds. Man, I hope some of this luck is present on Saturday!
Oh...one last thing. Relish this great weather we are going to have. The sunny weather (after a colder past couple of weeks) should have the birds ready to rock!!
Gobble Gobble...

Down here I listened yesterday morning, and they were still gobbling on the roost at 6:30am. Today was out and around for work, saw tons of birds, but all between 9-10:30am. Rolled down the window in the work truck and voice called to them, every one gobbled back at me.

I'm a bit worried. I called my uncle to let him know I would be there in the morning. His farm is the best turkey hunting I have ever seen. I have shot both of my turkeys there and missed a few on top of those. Last year not only did I hear turkey every time I went out I saw turkey as well. I just couldn't seal the deal. He told me today he hasn't heard a single gooble yet. He is feeding horses at sunrise and the birds have roosted in the same tree for the past 5 years. He would be able to hear them. Heck when I close my door in the morning they gooble. He just built a new barn and moved his horses closer to the wood line which may have pushed the birds to a different farm. We'll see in the morning.
