Took my daughter along to check/pull the last few traps before deer season this morning. Had another double on possums-she thought they were cute! Then had an old boar coon try to eat us. She RAN back to the truck for a gun! Then we scouted/squirrel hunted around a beaver pond, then even caught a few bluegill. Saw a pair of eagles, and a flock of turkeys as well. Best part was when she said, "Most kids never get to see or do any of this stuff. Thanks!" Absolutely made my day! So take a minute to think about how truly blessed we are this Thanksgiving Day! And tomorrow, I'll take the boys along!

Indeed! I feel this way every time I get a chance to be in the woods. I sure hope that I can be lucky enough to experience the outdoors for a long time!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Great story Dave, sounds like you have a family full of outdoors lovers!
I took my 9 year old out last Sunday to shoot a .410 for the first time. He has spent a lot of time behind a .22 in the past but this was his first shotgun experience. He loved it and can't wait to go squirrel hunting. He is a picky eater but said he would eat squirrel if it meant he could go hunting!
Yesterday, Thanksgiving, I had him on a pellet gun for an hour or two trying to refine his rifle/scope skills. It seems in the matter of a week he has transformed from a playstation freak to hunter. I can't wait to take him hunting, but have to wait until gun season is over because I don't trust public land during gun season.
Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving, be safe this weekend!
