Friend called me with some info a few minutes ago, been listening to the scanner, said there was a hunter shot this morning, Toddville/Farm Creek/Wesley Church road area, at 5:30am. Heard it was in the arm, from a .50 muzzleloader bullet. Man, it's still dark for a good hour or more at 5:30, you should always know your target but what moron is shooting at that time of day?!?!

most of the muzzleloader shooting accidents Ive heard of were people shooting themselves. This guy may have done the same thing.

Nah, the reports were he was heading in to his stand, heard a gunshot and felt his arm hurting. Haven't heard anything else, but I've been out hunting most of the day...

Hope he makes a quick recovery. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse.

Got the latest tonight from my cousins, EMT's and firemen, and it happened early at a hunting shack, someone outside was loading/cleaning, gun went off, through house wall and hit somebody inside/doorway in the arm.

When I was young my grandfather was unloading a rifle in the cabin and it went off. Through the floor of the loft upstairs and clean through the roof. Usually ALWAYS unloaded guns outside but it was particularly cold and wet that morning so he walked right in.
We are taught to treat every gun as if it were loaded, there is a reason for that.

I'm a little late posting on this, but I was at the camp I hunt on Maple Damn Road and heard a police car go by flying with lights and sirens on early in the morning. I was thinking that was definently a little odd to see that way out in the middle of the marsh. Then Friday evening we had dinner @ Old Salty's and the manager there had told us that a guy had been shot in the arm that morning, but didn't know any details.
Like Reed said, "We are taught to treat every gun as if it were loaded, there is a reason for that."

I was pulled over on my way to blackwater that morning. Would have been about 5 of 5. Guess I was in a big hurry to see no deer.
